2025 Inline Speed Skating Australian National Championship: A Thrilling Recap from Logan City Speed!

What an unforgettable event the 2025 Inline Speed Skating Australian National Championship was! Held at the brand-new track at Murarrie Recreation Reserve, it was a week of fast times, broken records, and incredible performances. We’re beyond proud of our Logan City Speed skaters and the entire Queensland team for their efforts, grit, and determination.

A Dream Venue: Murarrie Recreation Reserve The venue was nothing short of spectacular. A huge shoutout to Win Hughes and the team at Speed Zone for making this amazing new track a reality. Not only was it visually stunning, but it was also fast. This track saw numerous national records shattered across all categories, pushing the limits of what our athletes could achieve. The new surface provided the perfect stage for our skaters to shine!

Logan City Speed Skaters Shine Bright! Our club had a strong presence at the competition, with 17 of our skaters being selected to represent Queensland. As part of the 28 skater-strong Queensland team, our athletes worked tirelessly, and their hard work paid off. Each of them should be incredibly proud of the performances they delivered, and it was an honor to watch them give it their all on the national stage.

Aiming for the World Stage Among the team members from Logan City Speed, we had four skaters who have been selected to represent Australia on the world stage! These talented athletes will be heading to Korea for the Asian Roller Games in July, followed by four more skaters who will be competing at the World Championships in China this September. It’s an exciting time for our club, and we can't wait to see them represent Australia at these prestigious international events.

Record-Breaking Performance: Coach Rob Cook A special mention goes to our very own Coach Rob Cook, who made history by breaking a national record during the indoor events. Rob’s new time of 19.996 seconds in the 200m time trial not only earned him the National Champion title but also set a new benchmark for the sport. His dedication to the sport and his athletes continues to inspire us all—congratulations, Coach Rob!

Youth, Sportsmanship, and Memories What stood out to me personally during this championship was the energy and sportsmanship from our younger skaters. Seeing them compete with such passion, drive, and fairness was a true highlight. But it wasn’t just about the competition; it was about the camaraderie, the friendships, and the joy of the sport. The smiles and excitement on the faces of the younger athletes were a reminder of what it’s all about. A big thanks to Bernadine Geray Photography for capturing these precious moments and ensuring we have lasting memories of this incredible weekend.

A Big Thank You to All Finally, a huge thank you to all the volunteers, coaches, parents, and supporters who made this event a success. Whether you were cheering from the sidelines, helping behind the scenes, or supporting our athletes from afar, your contribution was invaluable.

It’s clear that the future of inline speed skating in Australia is bright, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue watching our Logan City Speed athletes grow and succeed. Here’s to even more records, personal bests, and exciting moments in the years to come!

Until next time, keep skating fast and dreaming big!
