RULE OF THE MONTH

138. Sprint races starting conditions (100m, 200m Dual TT, 500m+D, One Lap, 1.000m)

138.1 When all the skaters have been called to the start, the Starter gives them the instruction  "IN POSITION". The skaters must enter their starting box:

a. Standing up straight

b. The front skate must be in the box, not touching any line of the box or the start line

c. The back skate can be in or out of the box, not touching the lines at the side of the box

After five (5) seconds, at the command “SET” the skater can take his starting position and must remain completely still . When the starter is satisfied that all skaters are still, the gun is fired (or whistle blown).

138.2 If a skater has any problem after the command"SET", he can let the Starter know by raising a hand. This is allowed only once for each skater. If this happens, the starter stops the start procedure and asks to all the skaters to leave the start zone and then he restarts the start procedure.

TOP TIP

Arrive 30 minutes early for a race so you have time to warm up (off skates) and stretch before official warm up time.
